Day 84, Sunday Nov. 15

Today was a busy day! In the morning Jeff and Annette attended the sacrament service offered at the hospital. 

Afterward it was field trip time! It started a little rough when the nurse neglected to explain the medications Annette was to administer and fill out the proper paperwork for their outing, but it didn't ruin the day in the least. 

Jeff and Annette went with Randy, Jeff's brother, to look at a power chair in Highland. They were unsure if it was what they needed, but were prepared to buy it if it was. We are so happy to say that it's his now! With Randy's help they brought it home. 

The controls are on the opposite side and will need to be moved, and a few other minor changes and upgrades need to be made. Otherwise it will work perfectly. We are so grateful that things seem to be coming together so well. 

Jeff and Annette then went home and relaxed until all the kids showed up for spaghetti dinner. It is so nice for him to be able to rest on the couch at home! 

Zach used the transfer board, with Annette coaching him, to get Jeff into his new chair. They did a great job! 

We used twisty noodles today instead of long ones so it was easier for Jeff to stab with his fork. 

The other grandkids are at the bar eating dinner because our growing family can't fit at the table. They like to eat together so it works out great. 

After dinner Jeff's friend Jess came to visit. They had a great time talking while Ryan worked to fix the tv in the living room. 

After over an hour of investigating they think one of the wires in the wall was accidentally cut during the remodel. It will take a bit more work to fix the problem. 

Zach installed a lift in the bathroom. It runs from the shower to the toilet. This lift was from the same set that was installed in the bedroom last week. We are so grateful to have this equipment and want the person who donated it to us to know how appreciative we are! 

Annette and Blake accompanied Jeff back to the hospital. It's a little nerve wracking lately for Annette to leave him. Because he has a helper during the day the nursing staff tends to neglect him to care for higher maintenance patients. While this is understandable, it causes worry for when no one is there with Jeff. 

We are getting more anxious to have him home and are so thankful it's coming up. While it's been great for Jeff to be at the hospital and to have his therapy so regularly, we are ready to get things back to some sort of normalcy at home. It will be a huge adjustment for all of us, but we will make the best of it!
