Jeff felt better today and didn't nap so he could avoid the awful nerve problems. It worked! And hopefully he'll sleep well tonight to make up for the missed nap.
In PT he worked on transferring in and out of bed with the shower chair and found it to be very difficult. They also tried to do transfers from the power chair to the front seat of the Durango and it didn't work out very well at all. The door wouldn't open wide enough for a person and the chair.
The leg strap Annette made is finished and works great! She modeled it for us so you can see how it works. Genius!

They have been looking on KSL for a used power chair and a used lift to go on the Durango's hitch. They had to call and talk to the wheelchair rep because the trouble they keep coming across is that most of the chairs listed don't have an "up mode" to make the seat go up and be level with the car seat for easier transfers.
They learned today that the total cost of the manual wheelchair he ordered is $14,000. He is hopeful that the insurance will cover it though.
As the time gets closer to Jeff coming home stress levels are getting higher. There are just so many things to think about and figure out before that day comes. It seems to be the endless smaller details that make the list so extensive and overwhelming.
While things have not always gone as planned they seem to work out one way or another. Through faith and hard work we'll be able to help prepare for our dad's homecoming. We have a long road ahead of us, but we know that together we can accomplish anything.
Ryan and his family came to visit tonight. Jaxon and Talon helped to decorate Jeff's room for Halloween. Talon, 4 years old, impressed everyone by maneuvering around in the wheelchair without having to be taught how. Tylee, 7 months, enjoyed sitting with her grandpa and being held by grandma. Jax wore a goofy goatee to "be like his dad."
Julee and the kids left when Annette did and Ryan stayed until bedtime. They watched some TV and talked. It was a Sunday tradition for Jeff and Ryan to watch car shows together after dinner, so it was nice for them to be able to do that again.
