Jeff's Journey will be a place where family and friends can come to get updates on our dad's condition and progress. We have a long road ahead of us and we hope that this blog can serve not only as a place for updates but also as a journal of strength and remembrance. We have faith in our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ and we know that through our faith and perseverance our dad will be healed. Though we have been told that the chances are slim (1 in 200,000) that our dad will walk again, we will be by his side to help him beat those odds. Our dad will make it through this challenging trial and we will be there to help him every step of the way! We love you DAD & GRANDPA!!

Day 61, Friday October 23

Day 61, Friday October 23

Today was much the same as yesterday. Jeff felt a bit better in the morning and then spiraled down as the day went on. We are hopeful whatever might be causing this will work its way out of his daily routine soon.

Roxanne spent the day at the hospital. She helped Jeff with book work and acted as his cheerleader and helper in therapy. We are so grateful to her for sacrificing her time to be there.

The therapist made a brace for Jeff's hand that brings his thumb closer to his fingers so he can grasp things easier. Unfortunately his hands are so swollen right now it won't fit.

The nerve drugs Jeff takes are a necessary evil it seems. Without them Jeff is in horrible nerve pain all over his body. One of the side effects happens to be swollen hands and feet. If there's a balance between finding a therapeutic level to control the nerve pain and still avoid side effects we are sure struggling to find it.
Annette came for the evening after work. Greg Christopherson came by again. We are so grateful for his continued support and frequent visits.

When Annette got home tonight she found a box on her porch. It was filled with a bunch of personal notes from the young women of the 5th ward in Jeff and Annette's stake.

It was an emotional moment as Annette and Jeff expressed their gratitude for these young women, girls they don't even know. They were touched by each and every letter and want the girls to know how much it meant to them. Such a simple act of kindness had a very profound impact on all of us.

It is small mercies like this that have helped Jeff and Annette through these rough patches. There is always goodness and light, even when things seem so hopeless and dark. It's through the loving service of all of you that our prayers are answered. We will be forever grateful for all of you!
